This trek has been designed for those who wish to
experience the magnificence of the Everest Region. Trekking on the main trial is
a spectacular experience, as we enjoy stunning mountain scenery and meet the
friendly Sherpas. This is popular trek to view the world's highest peak and,
with recent improvements in food and accommodation at local lodges. A reasonable
level of fitness is required to make the most of this excellent, short trek.
Starting at Lukla, we follow the Dudh Kosi River valley, frequently crossing it
from side to side, and walking through blue pine and rhododendron forest. We
enter the Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale, then climb steeply to Namche
Bazaar, a prosperous market town. Here we are at the heart of Khumbu. Our trials
pass below incredible towering snow and ice peaks, and through beautiful forest
and friendly Sherpa Villages. The famous monasteries of the region are
impressive. At Tyangboche, which is surely situated in one of the world's most
beautiful locations, we rest and savor the incredible scenery, including
magnificent views of Everest, Ama Dablam (6,856m), Kantega (6,809m), Kongde
(6,194m), Nuptse (7879m) & Lhotse (8511m) to name but a few.

Day 1
Depart the UK for overnight flight to Kathmandu
Day 2 -
KATHMANDU (1360m/4488ft)
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. A pre-trek briefing, given by your
guides will be scheduled for late afternoon. Here you will have the chance to
discuss the trekking programme and coordinate any last-minute arrangements.
Day 3 -
PHAKDING (2600m/8,580ft)
Trekking 3 hours approx.
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2827m/9,329ft) travelling parallel to the Himalayan
giants bordering Nepal and Tibetan China. Flying time is approximately 40
minutes to the airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary.
In the afternoon descend on a wide trial towards the Dudh Koshi River, and then
join the main trail towards Namche Bazaar. The trekking is at a moderate pace to
aid acclimatisation and passes through the small village of Ghat
(2550m/8,415ft), to your accommodation at Phakding (2652m/8,752ft).
Day 4 -
NAMCHE BAZAAR (3446m/11,372ft)
Trekking 7 hours approx.
From Phakding we head out on a busy trail following the river valley amongst
beautiful alpine scenery, blue pine and rhododendron forest before we re-cross
the Dudh Koshi at Bankar where we have a tantalizing glimpse of Kusum Kanguru
(6369m/21,018ft) and Thamserku (6623m/21,856ft). Continuing upstream to the
confluence of the Bhote Koshi, we start our steep ascent to Namche Bazaar after
crossing a large suspension bridge.
Trekking at a steady pace the Peaks of Everest (8848m/29,198ft), Lhotse
(8511m/28,086ft), Nuptse (7879m/26,000ft), Ama Dablam (6856m/22,625ft) and
Taweche (6542m/21,589ft) come in to view for the first time.
Day 5 -
Rest and acclimatization.
We remain at Namche for a second night to allow for proper acclimatization to
the altitude.
Rising early, those who climb to the ridge above Namche will be rewarded with
the stunning dawn and sunrise over the panorama of the Khumbu peaks.
A trek towards Thami (3810m/12,473ft) along the beautiful Bhote Koshi River
valley or a visit to the National Park Headquarters to see the interesting
displays of Sherpa lifestyle & culture, mountaineering in the park, and local
flora and fauna can be arranged.
Day 6 -
TYANGBOCHE (3875m/12,788ft)
Trekking 6 hours approx.
From Namche we trek along a contouring trail high above the Dudh Koshi River.
With amazing views such as the ridge of Nupla and Knogde Himal (6194m/20,440ft),
the towering ice-fluted walls of Thamserku (6623m/21,856ft), and the Lhotse &
Nuptse Wall (3500m/11,550ft).
Everest looms above the ridge, a black, triangular rock; Sagarmatha, 'Goddess
Mother of Earth' is a truly magnificent sight.
From the re-forestation nursery at Trashinga, the trail drops steeply to
Phunkitenga (3250m/10,725ft).
After a steep ascent, the trail angles gradually on a climb of approximately 2 ½
hours to Tyangboche.
Day 7 -
MONJO (2835m/9,356ft)
Trekking 7 hours approx.
The morning can be spent visiting the Tyangboche Monastery and its nearby
museum.
After leaving the Monastery, we descend steeply to Phunkitenga. Continuing on,
we cross the Dudh Koshi and ascend steeply on a dusty trail to Trashinga before
contouring on to Shanasa. Here Tibetan traders with numerous artefacts bargain
hard to persuade trekkers to part with a few rupees.
We continue to contour high above the river valley, returning to Namche Bazaar
before descending on the steep trail to the Bhote Koshi. Crossing the river, we
follow the bank for a short distance to its confluence with the Dudh Koshi and
continue to Jorsale and Monjo.
Day 8 -
LUKLA (2827m/9,329ft)
Trekking 5 hours approx.
We retrace our steps to Bankar. This is a beautiful and moderate trek with views
of Kusum Kangaru behind us. We continue to Ghat, than start the gradual climb
out of the river valley to Lukla, arriving mid-afternoon. Presentation dinner in
the evening.
Day 9 -
KATHMANDU
We rise early in the morning to be ready for the arrival of our aircraft, or
helicopter and the flight back to Kathmandu. From the airport we transfer to the
hotel.
Day 10 -
KATHMANDU
A further day in Kathmandu visiting the Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Centre,
Jorpati, Kathmandu.
Day 11 -
KATHMANDU
Flight back to UK.
Day 12 -
Arrive UK
