'The Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) is a leading wildlife conservation organisation, concerned with ALL of Scotland's wildlife and its natural environment. Founded in 1964, the SWT is an independent charity with 124 reserves. Many of these reserves provide a natural, safe habitat for rare and endangered species to live and breed. In addition, SWT reserves educate and inspire thousands of visitors each year. Scottish Wildlife Trust continues to lobby government at all levels for stronger environmental protection policies.

Snowdonia National Park is visited by up to 9 million visitors a year and is home to over 26 000 residents. As a National Park it is an area set-aside for the nation to ‘recreate’ themselves, to get away from the pressures of everyday life and, to benefit from a variety of activities - the first British climbers to tackle Everest trained in the mountains of Snowdonia! It is an area set aside to conserve the unique landscape and the flora and fauna within it.

The Snowdonia Society is an active charity that believes the areas protection is too important to be left only to the government. With over 2500 the Society aims to protect and enhance Snowdonia for present and future generations.
