Your Local Hospice/Hospital

Haven House Children's HospiceHaven House Children’s Hospice is a very special place for very special children.

We are a charity that provides on-going holistic care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We embrace the needs of the child's family from the point of diagnosis through to post death care. Our commitment is to enable children to live life as fully as possible in a warm and caring environment and to provide the support that they and their families need every step of the way.

It costs £1.7 million each year to provide our free service across Essex and NE London and as we receive so little funding from the government, we rely heavily on the generosity of the public.

Getting involved in challenges such as these means that you can enjoy the experience of a lifetime while helping us to raise the funds we so desperately need and we greatly appreciate your support.

Richard House Children's HospiceRichard House Children's Hospice

Imagine having a child and being told that they are so sick, they probably won’t survive to adulthood. Here at Richard House, we strive to improve the lives of these very special children by making them as comfortable as possible, whilst allowing them to reach their full potential and creating lasting memories for those around them whose lives will continue if or when they die.

The daily toll of caring for these children can place a huge emotional, physical and financial strain on the whole family and this is where Richard House can help. Families are able to leave their children in the comfort that they will be expertly cared for in warm and friendly surroundings.

Your support is very important to us. We rely on individuals, the community, companies and charitable foundations for the majority of our income – only 4% comes from the Government.

Your participation in these events is invaluable. Not only will you have an unforgettable and challenging experience but you will be making a huge difference to London’s life limited children.

Halton Haven HospiceHalton Haven Hospice offers a flexible, patient centred and patient led approach to the provision of palliative care for the people of Widnes, Runcorn and the surrounding area.

Without the hospice 180 patients and their families, each year, would be forced to try to cope with life-threatening illness at home. Our daycare patients would have to cope at home, often alone.

The hospice needs £1M to maintain its services this year.  Of this, £600K needs to be raised from the local community; Halton Haven has no reserves, this means £50K has to be raised each and every month.

St. Barnabas HospiceST BARNABAS HOSPICE is a charity whose aim is to provide high quality specialist palliative care both within the hospice and in the comfort of patients’ homes treating adults with cancer and motor neurone disease. The hospice provides a 15-bed in-patient unit, a purpose-built day care centre, a specially trained community palliative care team and a bereavement service for relatives.

St Barnabas needs to raise £4.25million to cover its annual operational running costs.  Only about 15 per cent of St Barnabas’ annual running costs are state funded. This means that 85p out of every pound spent by the hospice has to be raised through voluntary donations from Worthing, Adur and Arun.

Patients are never charged for their care at St Barnabas and the hospice depends on the generosity of the public, local organisations, its network of Friends Groups and fundraising events and activities to help raise the balance needed to maintain the high standard of care and comfort in the local community.

Demelza House Children's HospiceDemelza House Children’s Hospice

The Demelza House family provides an oasis of care for children throughout the South East whose medical condition means they are unlikely to reach adult life.
When a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, parents have to cope not only with the fact that they will not reach adulthood, but with the additional demands of providing 24 hour care needs, visits to hospitals as well as looking after other family members.

The Demelza House family is there to help them

Demelza House provides an eight bedded hospice with specialist paediatric nurses in Sittingbourne, Kent. Over 300 children and their families benefit from a wide range of respite and palliative care facilities that include a multi-sensory room, Soft Play, Jacuzzi, and Adolescents’ Room. Available therapies include music, art and aromatherapy. Parents have described having the opportunity of an undisturbed night’s sleep as pure luxury.

It costs £2.2 million per year to run our wide range of hospice services and we receive no statutory funding.
